The third instrument in our VENTUS Ethnic Winds series features the divine tone of the Indian bansuri.Includes 14 playing techniques, nearly 350 pre-recorded phrases, and bonus drones – 4,500+ samples in total! An ornament system allows for unique, authentic performances and TACT (Total Articulation Control Technology) provides the ultimate solution for fully customizable mapping.
The bansuri is an ancient flute, indigenous to India, known as the nadi or tunava in some texts. It has a special role in the North Indian and Hindustani music and is often known as the “divine instrument”.Unlike many ancient flutes, the bansuri is tranverse (side-blown).
We selected the bansuri for the Ventus Series because of its supreme importance in the traditional Indian music, and because of its love haunting, low tone.It is the perfect companion for our Sitar Nation library.
Our bansuri library is performed by Josh Plotner, who has captured all key articulations and playing techniques of the instrument: sustains, ornaments, staccatos, legato, portamento, bends, phrases and much more!

I have some really good VST libraries through NI Komplete 10, but I’ve always had a hankering for one thing in particular.
A REAL sounding flute vst. I mean, something that models the variation in breath and sounds like, well, a real flute. All of the orchestra sims in Komplete strike me as too lifeless. Probably great in a symphonic arrangement, but no bueno for acoustic folk production.
So, does anyone know of a good virtual flute? I’m after that Stairway to Heaven flute sound. I don’t need full blown Jethro Tull flute solo emulation. Just something along the same lines as what the Tina Guo vst did for virtual cellos.
Any feedback would be awesome!
Thanks,
Dranzangos
